Okay, I can't stop thinking about this, so I have to say it. You DO remember what the Surpression Field was in HL2, right? Like damn, how different would Half Life be if these Combine existed?

I adore this, Half-Life 2 has a lot of Mind Control in its universe and this image proves that Combine technology can be hot. Artist made Alyx look very busty and tomboyish as well. This image is perfect~

@Doc-Helix to somewhat answer your question, The Suppression Field isn't actually mentioned in Half-Life: Alyx but is presumed to have been operational during the games story. Either way...
The G-Man at the end of Alyx, considers episode 2 to be a separate "entity" to the VR game.
