Slightly updated version of an older pic. With some hopefully better grammar and a little animation. Thanks to Svennerson and Mr H for the proofreading

I still have a deep-seated fear of them, but not these literal rainbow eyes. Rather, I avoid eyes of many, many different shades and colors due to the many, many hours wasted trying and failing to manip them with the smudge tool. <.<
THESE rainbow eyes are awesome, though. I like, for some reason. :3

Oh, I just use the gradient tool. Then if you want to make the rainbow move, just play around with the hue/saturation (not sure how that would work with other colors though.)
changing the hue sounds like a good idea. I just doubled up the gradient and moved it up. What do you use for your animations Cradily? I'm using the GIMP Animation Package at the moment. Not bad but kind of limited

Lol, not what I meant. At one point, long ago, I tried to manip an image that had eyes that were drawn in a very, very detailed manner, using over 50 colors. I was absolutely adamant about emptying those eyes using my smudge tool method, even if it meant going pixel-by-pixel. I never succeeded, and have since lost the image. I always called those eyes "rainbow eyes" because of the huge number of intermingled colors that comprised them. I was just reminded of that, is all.

Oh, okay. I was wondering why you were using smudge to slowly make the rainbow move up xD
