Getting rid of the shorts was weird. Like, suddenly call that out as impractical is so random and out of place. It's not even consistant since she still has the bunny cap which also very impractical. Cool art though.

It actually isn't out of place. The point of the scene is to show that the og Fionna & Cake didn't exactly have full autonomy, they were created by one guy and were written according to his vision. Now they are free from the role of basically being an in universe character and can now express tgemselves further

Still it feels weird since clothing practicality has never been focused on in Adventure Time before or since. Simon's not talking about how impractical his 3 piece suit is for running, even Fionna still has her bunny ears on which only hinders her in a fight.

Tbh i just chalked it up to wokies thinking the skirt looked a bit too "patriarchal" on her. Also, about the art, i love how disturbing the implications are: because, iirc when the lich "possesses" a living being it kills them and pretty much just wears their skin/corpse like a macabre costume/disguise like it happend to billy.
