That's how all transparent thumbnails are, because I assume they aren't pngs. It's still transparent though.

The site's thumbnail generation can't handle transparency. Transparent backgrounds will always show up as white in thumbnails. As far as I know, transparent backgrounds have always worked, but if the site has to resize the image, the resized version will have artifacting or a white background. The full sized version will display properly, though.
