backstory from the OG reddit post

Royarch Thalirin, Hunting-Compaion of the Phaeron, Regent of the Spinward Marches and Champion of the Ancient Codes, Humbler of the Rashan, Keeper of the Vault of Sunlit Gold, Trampler of the Krork, She-Who-Saves-The-Entombed sits upon her data-throne in the heart of her war-barque. Long a supporter of the Silent King, she is entrusted with the mustering of her dynastys war-fleet in the Pariah Nexus, a task well suited for her talents, for though few Necrons are truly sane, and Thalirin is less sane than most, but her skill in void-warfare is undimmed by the passage of aeons and she holds an impenetrable grip on her domain on the eastern fringe.

Not all who encounter the Necrons are slain, but few are as fortunate as Bethrie Rosethorn was after she trespassed on the worlds of the fabulously rich Nihilakh Dynasty; spared from instant execution by the whim of the overlady, like all of the Nihilkah Dynasty she demands only the finest appointments and her slaves rich clothing and jewels would pay a hive-governors ransom, but though the Overladys eccentricity is a form of indulgent madness, she has not spared Bethrie the microscopic mindshackle scarabs used on the necrons slaves. Since that day she has been the personal living ornament of the Royarch.

At her mistress's side the would-be tomb-robber witnessed much of the Great Awakening and, protected from the soul-stilling effects of the region by a rare amulet of energistic blackstone, she is one of few living human to have seen the true scale of the constructions that power this Great Work. Her mistresss mind wanders far, linked with the systems that guide the leviathan warship as she prepares for another expansion that will surely bring billions more under the yoke of slavery. It is little wonder that she does not doubt that her mistresss assurance that the return of the Necron Dynasties spells doom for the Imperium, and that within a few scant centuries slavery or death will be the fate of all humanity.

TLDR: Girl tries to rob grave. Girl finds crazy robot. Girl keeps getting almost killed by crazy robot that tends to forget that humans need air. Food. Warmth. And other things that it can do without. But at least said crazy robot tries, for it can use the living ornament to feed her immortal ego. /necrons are fun.
