i find it difficult that i can't update a post by changing the file...

Alas, it is just how the gallery software was designed. I admit that it would be a little easier to fix mistaken uploads if you could just change the image of a post, but reuploading isn't all too much a hassle, either.

if someone notices they have made a mistake later on, post deletion and reupload resets it's score as well ;3

There's a way to fix that. ;)

If you upload the new version of the image first, then make it the parent for the version you intend to delete, when you delete the old version, all the votes and favorites will be transferred to the new, parent post.

In other words, when you delete a child post, its votes and favs are transferred to its parent. You can use this to "replace" posts.

hmm, that sounds useful, gotta keep that in mind, as i constantly tend to make mistakes i want to fix XD
