Umm. I think, due mainly to those outlines (although there are other problems), that this would get deleted by the QCC.

resize it and click. it got rid of the outlines for me

What I'm now wondering is why the heck is it doing that? Why is the larger version a properly transparent background with no artefacting, but the small one is a horrid jumbled mess?

Unflagged, but that is annoying.

The resize function of the site is sometimes buggy with transparent background

Yes, I can see that. It's also in the bug report thread, I think, along with roughly 15 million other bugs. What I'm wondering is why it's buggy in this particular manner.

I can understand casting "transparent" to black, but why does resizing muck up the outlines?

Its the same for gelbooru, the preview attempts to minimize the filesize and can't handle the concept of transparency lol.

This has actually spurred me to do some research, and I think I know why transparency is an issue. I think most image formats have "transparent" as a NULL value, which are always fun to work with. So it's not even the Booru's fault this happens, it's a limitation you can't really get rid of.

The implementations that do work seem to all use HTML resizing, which is a bad practice because it keeps the original file size (so the preview would take just as long to load as the original-size image, which would make the /post page take an hour to load).

I know I shouldn't be asking for a reply, but seriously, does no one else think we need some more of Kari on this site?

I DO. and its crime why no one made more of it.
