Hypnogal: There is no prequel, and I can't convince you to like this page. However, to answer your question, even though there are unnamed heavenly spirits in a lot of different religions, I had the Hebrew concept of "sons of heaven" or elohim in my mind when I wrote this. If you aren't familiar with them, you could just imagine this guy as an angel and you'd have the right idea.
