emma frost aka white queen is a psychic type pokemon.... I mean mutant. Essentially she's publicly dommeing kitty pride aka shadowcat, but only inside her head; thus, we see the reflection of emma and kitty in bondage, contrasted by the normally dressed kitty, and they're looking at each other - admittedly, it might just be kitty imaging what being publicly dominated by emma would be like, but given emma's telepathic nature and lacking any thought bubble, I think the psychic sexy times theory holds more water

I feel I saw emma reference doing something similar with scott summers, aka cyclops, obviously just discussed and not shown, but I might just be imagining things

also, if you're unaware, last I heard Emma and Scott, who are dating, are currently leading the x-men

also, emma used to be a villian in the hellfire club, and tends to have a practical and and shady personality

Our subject is Kitty Pryde AKA Shadowcat, a mutant with the power to phase through solid objects. This talent drew the attention of not only the X-Men but also Emma Frost AKA the White Queen, a telepath who acted as the White Queen of the Hellfire Club, a secret club for the rich and powerful that liked to emulate Victorian customs and dress, which for them also meant having lasers, superpowers and dressing up all their female members like dominatrixes (sp?) while adopting membership positions named after chess pieces. Frost was head of a private academy which was actually built to find and recruit teenage mutants to act as the Club's super powered footsoldiers. Y'know, kind of like the GOOD GUY'S secret paramilitary school except the mind reading/controlling head teacher was a blonde woman in white dominatrix gear instead of a bald guy in a wheelchair.

TLDR: Adult, hedonistic, dominatrix dressing actual mind controller Emma Frost tried to kidnap phasing teenager Kitty Pryde, who even had a name that lent to a kinky pet name. Kitty escaped/rescued the X-Men from her clutches, naturally, and went on to become a long standing member of the team. So the two have history none of it pleasant, even though Emma eventually switched sides and joined the X-Men. Which is when, ironically, the dominatrix "jokes" really started piling up.

What we're seeing here is Kitty and Emma out on the town with Emma being ever so naughty. Kitty is looking into their reflection in a window and liking what she sees: herself as Emma's pet. Clearly mind control.

Since that bracelet on her wrist is glowing and her "reflection" has a glowing red outline, I move that the hypnotic accessory tag be included, since that's most likely what's causing it.

huh, an interesting point, but I think we don't have quite enough information to determine that, where as emma just using her known psychic powers seems the more Occam's razor explanation

anything to add, @notanotheralias ? You're usually especially savvy with the comic knowledge

Love it. Poor Kitty, not getting to do that for real, though. It breaks my heart to see a sub not getting to realise thier desires.

I think the bracelet on her right wrist is a comms-device, nothing more... Though Frost could be whispering to Pryde with it... Maybe...

She's not a sub by default based on my own reading of the character.

Emma's powerful enough to override or outright overwrite that sort of thing, though.

There was also an arc early in their relationship where Emma took up the role of Kitty's mentor, teaching her how to "be an elegant lady" and so on, and sort of took increasing control of her life during the process. This included clothes-shopping trips where Emma more or less picked out Kitty's wardrobe without her realizing Emma was increasing her control. I pretty much interpreted this picture as an extension of that relationship.

Also, this shouldn't be tagged "magic"; Emma is a telepath but it's not magical in nature.

edit: I just realized that the letters on signs in the "reflection" are the right way around - makes me think that Emma is taking a bondaged-up Kitty for a walk and not letting anyone, including Kitty, realize it consciously.
