Maybe Chiaki is getting back at Marika for always calling her by her nickname. In the OVA movie, that's a running joke.

Only the left one has empty eyes, and sound lines coming out of her headphones. The right one doesn't. The right one is probably hypnotizing the left one, or something like that.
