okay. I knew he was from Johto. thought it was the rival from the games. been a while since I played a Pokemon game. been playing my old Digimon World Dusk because Pokemon games have been too generic for me lately

Slowpokes evolve when a Shellder latches onto their tail. The Shellder evolves alongside the Slowpoke into the large shell on the Slowbro's tail. It's the look on the shell's (Shellder's) face he's referring to.

I always found it annoying that wasn't how it happened in the games (in a literal sense), you just got Slowpoke to evolve by leveling up for Slowbro, or trading with the King's Rock for Slowking...

On a both random and connected note, anyone else ever have that glitch where Pokemon turn into Slowbros when you leave it in the storage box for too long?

no. one time in one of my gen I games I encountered a wild charmander in that mansion next to Cinnabar gym.

but yeah that is annoying, but then again, don't forget about Kadabra -> Alakazam and Machoke -> Machamp
