Oh yeaaaah. I hadn't quite pegged it until you said that, but there was some niggling connection there. I'd definitely say the wide-open with-lots-of-sclera eyes is part of the reason for me.

Hmmm. Muddle, I think the solution is obvious: you must make El Goonish Shive hypnoporn. There's certainly plenty of fodder for it in the source material, and you are excellent with the art style.
