I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Marceline is under hypnosis. Or somewhat under. I remember an episode where she was tricked into wearing a pendant and it corrupted her into turning into some huge evil queen thing. So I'm thinking Marce is corrupted, and there's no hypnosis on bubblegum.

I was thinking the those weird 'business executive' characters, but it being her Dad's influence does make a lot more sense.
