For some sketches I pass it through a threshold filtre, more recently I've started tracing them. If I want to not include something, I either erase it once in done or trace over. This particular one I did using a threshold. I don't know where to contact the artist, as they've shut down their deviantart page, and I don't wish to join furaffinity. Someone else already a member there could ask, and if they refuse I'd happily delete these.
Well, it isn't right of you to steal his YCHs without permission. I'm sorry to say it, but you can't just take a thing and edit it without asking for permission. I recommend you make an FA and message him before he finds out on his own.
Sounds harsh, but also true. Once something is on the internet, it is easy to steal/modify/pass it off as one's own. Sure, plenty of people get caught and shut down when blatantly plagiarizing, but there's a reason manips exist here and it isn't because everyone is an artist. Not to say manipping is easy of course. I've never done it, but I can't imagine all the sparkles, spirals, frames for gifs, etc that would need to be done to make it a masterpiece are certainly nothing I can claim to do.
As long as given credit to the original is due, I usually don't see a problem.

I don't mean physically, I mean legally. Its super easy to manip shit, but difficulty is not the same as legality or morality. King Cheetah makes his money by selling these YCHs to people. Taking HIS YCHs and filling them in on your own without his permission is not legal, it is considered theft.
Don't let this become one of THOSE types of sites where artists ban their work from being posted here at all.

No one is taking credit away from the original artist. AnomalousDucks is not saying "This is MY pic. I made it, and it belongs to ME." Don't make a big deal out of this for no reason. Also, I find this more hilarious after looking through your favorites and seeing a bunch of manips. I can guarantee you 100% that most of those manips were made without the original artist's permission. So, you know, if it wasn't a big deal to you then, I don't know why it's a big deal to you now.

It wouldn't be considered theft, but copyright infringement. Whether it actually is copyright infringement is a rather complicated issue. It's definitely derivative of King Cheetah's drawing, but there's also an appreciable amount of original work going into it. It's in a different style with a different character than what KC might usually draw. AD's image wasn't made with commercial interests in mind, and it seems extremely unlikely that using lines from an image made a year ago would actually affect his profits.
All in all, I'd argue it's fair use. At the very least, it's definitely more fair use than most manips on this site. Whether KC gave permission to use the work has nothing to do with it. Getting permission is a polite formality, but it isn't required, legally or morally speaking.
Of course, rather than playing backseat lawyer, the best option would just be to ask how King Cheetah himself feels about it. Maybe he's cool with it, or maybe not. Either way, I'm sure everyone involved would be happy to respect his wishes, instead of trying to guess what he wants.
