A bit of a scene jump I admit, but I think this was the best way to get the most information possible across.

So, XANA is upgrading the tech through which he can control his slaves, with an emphasis on limiting the chance of exposure until the time is just right.

Does X.A.N.A. have a gender? I mean it's just a computer virus that can control machines and people's minds.

I said some would be coming on the market, not that they'd be sending them for free, ya know? ^^ Still, ya never know, maybe one will appear in your Xmas stocking...


A very fair point. The girl's have only called XANA 'Master', which is more gender neutral than Mistress, they've never actually said 'he' (I think/hope). I say he since XANA is referred too as 'he' in the show (again, I think/hope).

Ya know... I notice... she's big and looks capable, so why didn't she escape? Seems... odd... unless of course she secretly wanted it :P

Well, there is that possibility, but you have to consider three things;
1. The element of surprise. Admittedly, this scene is a bit of a jump, but the idea is that Yumi grabbed Sam very shortly after Akiko announced them in the room.
2. While Sam looks big and capable, Yumi spent most of her teen years fighting monsters and is under the control of one of those monsters right now. Her inhibitions on restraint are pretty much out the window.
3. The ear piece. It's come from one of the very boxes Sam delivered, and it's XANAs upgrade for controlling its minions and the MC signal it transmits affects, almost immediately.
