I love this concept. As a Riolu, he was hypnotized to obey. Then from obeying, he evolves into Lucario. And and since he's now still hypnotized as a Lucario, the hypnosis now makes him believe that they are his trainers! I know that might not be exactly what's happened, but that's how I like to think of it as!
