AHHHHHH! Uzumaki relapse!
Yep, if there ever was one (even if the hair chapter was quite hot and the ending of the last volume extremely nonsensical). Though art of Tonogai's "Doubt" would be far, far worse for me . The manga absolutely traumatized me and was banished to the dark corners of my manga shelf after I read through it once ^^.

This is actually canon. In one of the earlier chapters of the manga, the female MC (above) and another girl suffer from their hair developing a life on its own, growing absurdly long and forming spiral patterns that mesmerize and put anyone into a trance that looks at them too long. There are quite a nice scenes where whole crowds of people (including schoolgirls) become hypnotized that way.
H-hypnotic hair? Canon? In an actual manga?? That sounds glorious!
Though whenever I think of hair and hypnosis I always think of Kenkou Cross's Kejorou Monster girl from MGE.
Now I'm gonna think of hypnotic hair all day now! (Not that that's a bad thing. :3)

Can't say it had the hot factor for me, but then I might still have been reeling from the... snails. But, if I remember right, (without opening the book as I dare not invite the nightmares back) Kirie hated the attention it got her.

Well, here's hoping my parents don't get me that one for Christmas. Uzumaki, while awesome, was pretty much my limit for intense, horrifying imagery.
Crazy thing is, I read a chunk of Uzumaki on a long train journey and an old woman (I'm guessing in her 60s) asked me for the title so she could look it up 'cos she really liked the look of the artwork after seeing it over my shoulder. That broke through a few demographic presumptions in my head, lemme tell ya.

Doubt (or other manga by Tonogai [you know, easily recognizable by people wearing oversized animal heads] like "Judge") doesn't come even close to Uzumaki as far as the imagery goes (though it is very bloody and grim, definitely an 18+ read), though it doesn't need to. What fucks you up is the storyline, especially the resolution. Super tense and gripping story if there ever was one (I literally read through all 5 volumes in a single week [usually I buy like 1-2 volumes per month], pretty much ordering fresh ones every day, because I just couldn't stop reading) that also does a great job at avoiding stereotypes (quite rare in the modern manga industry).
However the resolution is not only great, but utterly shocking and terrifying. Definitely a must read if you are into darker and more sinister thriller, though you will probably not touch the series afterwards.
... Reminds me that I have to pick up Judge one day, even if I know that pretty much everyone in the series will be horribly and brutally murdered and the resolution will blow my mind in a terrifying way.
Well, Giger wasn't a youngster either when he did his most terrifying creations ^^...
