Most of the story is a flashback, if that helps.

My understanding:


Dr. Hayes is a teacher and secretly evil. Ariela is a student and secretly some kind of heroine. Hayes has Ariela come to his office, and uses scented candles to put her in a trance. Then he rapes her, in the process "impregnating" her with a tentacle thing, presumably in preparation for his evil plot (which we never really learn about).

Then I guess off-panel he dresses her back up and probably wakes her up and says "you dozed off, go to bed" and she heads home none the wiser.

Two weeks later, Hayes has put his evil plot into action, and does something that puts everyone to sleep, but Ariela resists this because of her unspecified heroine powers. She's unwittingly still full of tentacle thing, and he has it go squish squish in her to shock her. She fights anyway.

And yeah, the pool skips from page 7 to page 9 for some reason.
