I am here to make a special, frightfully important announcement that I do not like haigure in the slightest, but am not bothered in the even-more-slightest by its existence, so kindly disregard this complete waste of posting space.

There's no excuse for not putting it on your blacklist only to complain when you see more haigure pics. But this is getting ridiculous.
....gonna just ignore the haugure, again. (Because that is an option and I can do that, even if it is disappointing to see one of my favorite characters ever taking part. But if you like, I guess more power too you. eh.)

So about Tomoko. You might be able to tell.... I kinda like 'er.
Short answer: Yes. It is by far my favorite recent anime/manga that is not considered some kind of old classic. (I have many favorite anime I like more than this, but they're mostly ones i'm nostagic for and still a fan of)
Though in regards to the earlier reply. I honestly think this show affects people differently. I see her as entirely sympathetic and the most relatable character in the history of anime. (Then again, I share pretty much a majority of her traits and social competence, so of course i'd say that.)
Watamote is pretty much a dark comedy. Really dark. But in a weird way, I find Tomoko completely lovable. Even though to me, she feels like a mirror held up to show a lot of the parts of myself that I try to ignore. But at the same time, I find her attitude comforting. Is that weird? It's probably weird. It's like in a way, even though I am probably as much of a mess as her, she makes me feel BETTER about myself for being that way, sometimes. Somehow.
I guess to some, she's just a character to laugh at, but for some of us that really relate to her plight, she's someone to laugh with. I would give her the biggest hug.
But as far as mixing really dark and a uncomfortable psychoanalytical character study of a deeply flawed but lovable individual with laughs at the same time, I think it's one of the best series i've seen in recent memory. It's very unique, as a series. That's for sure.

It's basically like voyeurism of a complete cringe-y loser. I guess if you ever need to feel a bit better about yourself it may be good for something.

It is a legitimately good comedy series. For some people (like me), it hits really close to home.
Plus, it makes fun of the duck-face fad.

Watamote is fantastic and Tomoko is my spirit animal. I need to finish watching it.
