Yeah, the bell is something i have never seen in any restaurant I have been to as well (including japanese/chinese restaurants in europe/usa). The most uncommon thing in these restaurants i have seen so far was being given an ipad to order. That was one efficient restaurant I have to say ...

I'll certainly want to check one of these out when I eventually go to japan for a vacation. Just to get an on site impression.

Why, of course she does. The trance wasn't particularly elaborate or deceptive - she is given direct commands and she accepts them without any reinforcement. Hypnosis cannot make you do anything you wouldn't on some level anyway. She is very into it.
