really, though, nice to see this site be accessible by non-english speakers. I speak English and Irish, so I can get here just fine, but aside from Spanish I haven't seen many other languages on here.

The joke came from a comedian, Yakov Smirnoff, back in the 1980s. He was born in the USSR but moved to the US. His most famous joke was the 'Russian reversal,' where he described something in America with a phrase, then reversed the two parts of the phrase to create a joke about what it was like in the Soviet Union. For instance, 'In America, you can always find a party. In Soviet Russia, the Party can always find you!'
