I honestly feel like the only person on this website who has no interest in Danganropa. Doesn't help my first interaction with it beyond "knowing it's a thing" was that scene where a character had metal rods driven THROUGH HER SKULL into her brain to hypnotize her (You cannot fuckin tell me they weren't driven through her skull. IF there was a hole cut it would have been blatently obvious and her hair would have been partially shaved) which made me feel physically ill.
This and so much more about DR disturbed me way too much.
Too bad, I feel I could enjoy the games without all the fucked up shits. :<

The fact that I have played through the entire first game and legitimately loved everything about it, and I had absolutely no idea even in the slightest that is a thing, and even sounds like it's pretty at odds with everything i've experienced up to this point, should maybe say something,
Seriously that sounds like something to me that must be such an isolated and relatively inconsequential thing in this series. (But as I said, played only first game. This sounds like sequel stuff i'd rather not know about yet)
Danganronpa is sort of a incredibly well written murder-mystery Virtual Novel/Puzzle sim (due to having a level of interactivity that puts it a little above other VN's) that involves a high-stakes game of intrigue through stylistic puzzles and weirdly memorable characters, like a thriller-tinged and stylistically offbeat Phoenix Wright game.
It is highly recommended, and I totally think you should check it out and peruse knowing more about it. It is absolutely worth it, and that thing you mentioned sounds really minor to everything I played of it so far.
It does have extraordinary amounts of feels and it's premise is a bit sadistic, though (like a much more tame version of the Saw franchise with stylistic censorship to obtain a more mainstream appeal and age rating) but the artisty of the storytelling, and it's characters are far more than worth it.

Personally, after spoiling myself some of the horrible things that happen in it, I can't play the games even when people say it's good.
Another scene in the anime disturbed me for a whole week. x')
