My thought is along the lines of 'someone(possibly someones plural) rigged the shrine for Reasons'.

Possibly because they weren't expecting it to take 100 Years, so even a minor change got multiplied by a factor of 100.

Of course, since everybody lusts after Link NORMALLY, this will only lead to even more hijinks.

This kinda feeds into the personal headcanon: 'Since Blood Moons reset the world and come up both regularly and when something goes wrong, Zelda and Ganon are co-Dungeon Masters of BOTW Hyrule'.
