she would not respond to that name

Okay, we get it. You use the Japanese names. 99% of English speakers don't. Get over it.

tinbuktu
:p
not really my concern
but, the character simply wouldn't respond to a name other than their own unless programed to respond to another name
just saying

And her name in the West is Misty. She is responding to her name as recognized by the audience this pic was intended for (given that it's written in English). There is no logic to what you are saying. You don't have to like that other people use her localized name, but these comments of "she wouldn't respond to that name!" are getting annoying, because she does respond to it, and addresses herself as such in the English version of the games and anime.

Just saying.

saiminwapurou is our resident super weaboo here to remind us all that Japan's effort to acknowledge, localize and share it's media with other countries and cultures are pointless in the uprising of snobby single-minded know-it-alls with one-track agendas. Hell bent on isolating an entire country in the name of xenophobia; the weaboo's won't rest until all other cultures are rendered unto obscurity! XP

Nintendo US is a wannabe game developer.
not that they don't have ideas and such.
but, I know of at least one US company that actually makes video games
and, let me put it this way.
If you're in another country and the language itself is fine, but they call you something else that isn't even your name...?
I rest my case

Except that these are fictional characters who's copyright owners have already consented to the localized names of and you're living in a dream world by pretending they're anything more than that (at least to the extent that you'd go around acting like you're defending their "rights").

I'm pretty sure there is no "Nintendo US" and I don't believe Nintendo of America is focused on much more than localization (though I could be wrong). Though Nintendo does have US-based developers, possibly the best example of which is Retro Studios, who made the acclaimed Metroid Prime series.

Only one?

Because game characters are real people, amirite?

I'd also like to point out that kasumi = mist. So, in this case, the localization of her name was pretty faithful.
