So I was looking up stuff that can control vampires. Apparently being the boss undead that's only rivaled in folklore and popular culture means you have very few weaknesses. The one thing that you can do to control vampires was prey on their arithmomania, in Eastern and Western vampire traditions. The only one that vampires seemed to have was compulsive counting disorder of tiny things, like grains of salt or wheat, so I guess that's what's being used to control Mavis here. Hope you guys enjoy.

I've kept meaning to do a Mavis pic while also not knowing the right method for controlling her. This is certainly one solution.

I don't get how hovering one piece of wheat in front of her face would trigger her arithmomania. Wouldn't it have had more sense to have her bent over counting rice on the ground or something?

Never knew this fact but that would not surprise me at all. He loves to count so much he doesn't have time to be a scary type vampire too cute : )

I can't say for sure but I've always imagined it as harvested grains of wheat rather than counting what's on a single stalk. Maybe an hourglass timer would work better for this since she'd have to focus on the midpoint to count all the grains of sand properly. She couldn't leave before it's finished because of the compulsion to count them all and it would also give the controller a set window of time.
