Forcing characters to act in strongly out-of-character ways is one of the more noteworthy strains of the mind control fetish.

The disco look, complete with the oversized afro, is VERY strongly out of character for basically everyone except that one Totally Spies villain. (Actually, sidenote, I’m sure that villain’s episodes do a lot to help make this a Thing)

It also carries a certain degree of what I’ll call humiliation through shamelessness, where it is enticing to see a character doing something they SHOULD be embarrassed by, but have been brainfucked into not.

You can actually see a lot of similarities between this and Haigure, in that they’re hitting a lot of the same behavioral beats through very different aesthetics and behavior.
