In another life, she may have become the 18+ Hero, Midnight, but Nemuri was destined to become the bottom-tier villain, Misfit.

She spent her early childhood in remedial classes, and seemed unlikely to leave there. Particularly inept at language and maths, Nemuri was still functionally illiterate when she ran away from home in her mid-teens. Though declared quirkless as a young girl, when she hit puberty, her efforts to seduce her teachers and advisors bore fruit when she inadvertently manifested her quirk on a male teacher who had caught her smoking. Though she didn't understand it, her quirk served to send anyone near her to a sleepwalking state, and cause short term amnesia. The latter allowed her to escape punishment many time in her adolescence, for misdemeanours ranging from her preferred punk haircut and outfit, to outright theft. Nemuri could only activate her quirk while engaged in sexual intercourse. Ignorant, and deeply stupid, Nemuri believed this to be the natural consequences of sex, and considered herself quirkless.

In her middle-school, she encountered an adversary she couldn't overcome; a female teaching staff. Sent to a Catholic school, the nuns there were not conducive to her efforts at seduction whenever it came time to cover up her petty crimes. The sisters, despite themselves, dubbed her an inveterate misfit. Before long, Nemura answered to this name alone.

Even she could see the writing was on the wall. She left the school and her family, and headed into the big city. Her parents tried to hide their glee at her disappearance.

Misfit got by by seducing men, unknowingly using her quirk to sedate them, and - after getting off, of course - ridding them of their wallet and valuables. She would sell these at cut price to fencers and pawns shops. She occasionally spent time as a groupie in various biker gangs, finding their gruff mistreatment of her arousing.

At this stage, in her life, the dimwitted girl had literally forgotten her real name, and went exclusively by "Misfit". The world, it seemed, was only too happy to forget her too. Nermura Kayama's records have been purged, and there is no memory of her beyond the low level villainess she was to become.

In her early twenties, she seduced and tried to rob a particular thug who was on good terms with the bikers she belonged to at that time (and would eventually become a low level member of the League of Villains). However, his own quirk "Insomnia", prevented him from being sent into a sleeping state. For the first time, another person realised the potential power of Misfit's quirk.

Years later, he still acts as her de facto pimp, using her Misfit to seduce and steal from "customers", in the full knowledge that her quirk's short term amnesia attributes prevent detection. Though she is considered a hero to some of the dumber young punk sluts from UA that frequent the bars he occupies, Misfit's pimp worries that she's getting too old to sell herself as consistently as she used to.

In this rewritten reality, Midnight never emerged as the 18+ Hero; though her career as a moronic, thieving prostitute is just as family unfriendly.
