I disagree with the flag I think in particular it was showing the bit were you fought an enemy Zero Suit Samus that had the Shante spirit in the World of Light "campaign". Which means that Samus is a copy made which is in turn given life in someway by the spirit. Which is a form of body control is it not?

I mean even if the flagger is right about how the spirit mechanic actually works it still doesn't invalidate this gif. The artist that made this clearly had the idea that Samus is being possessed by Shantae. The artist probably wasn't aware of how spirits actually works and just wanted to do a possession pic.

and we don't know how Spirits work yet; they seem to control the clone characters, clone Mario seemed lifeless before a Spirit entered it

as for context: sta.sh/01066yr5nreb

you literally fight Shantae in Samus' body

also, a beautiful animation here, we need more like this

That, or it can work both ways; it's implied at different points in the Direct that it can either be a symbiotic relationship between fighter and Spirit (like the ones the player uses) or a "people snatcher" deal, where the Spirit possesses a copy of the original fighter's form (like the red-eyed one made from Mario in the World of Light trailer).

I'll just conclude by saying I enjoy these interpretations of the latter, and feel like they have a place here.

exactly, if all those Bowsette pictures with very little MC to them have a place, so do these

the red eyes make me think they're possession outright

Oh my god. Who cares if in game it's not possession. This piece of fan art which is NOT CANON is depicting it as possession instead.

Normally I'm a canon whore. However this is so petty it hurts.

agreed

Samus being possessed by Shantae is already a minor meme, so does it really matter if it works that way in the game? It's a meme, not a game; we already have 8 pictures of SSBU spirit possession, 5 if you exclude the ones without Shantae possessing Samus

I wonder, if it still showed the name of the person who flagged a post, would this person be crusading as hard?

Or would they create a throwaway and make it even more blatant that they're salty
