Well as our resident Pokémon expert it is 100% true!!!
It was honestly super predicable that he was going to win this one. The prize was a fight with the masked royal and his Litten needs to finish it's arc by at least evolving into Incenaroar or putting up a good fight against him. Plus when the next series which will be even more of a radical shift than Sun and Moon in premise since it will be about ALL regions. The shift away from Ash might happen so another reason for him to win.
I actually never really minded him losing the whole Dragon Ball principle that there is someone better than you out there. Expect for the Unova League was such bull him losing to Carmen ugh >.>
