Yeah tl!dr it's a Horrortale AU where everybody goes super rabid and hungry for monster magic and the characters adapt to either have extreme hunting abilities or extreme self-defense abilities.

And surprisingly enough, all things considered, this is unironically wholesome. Rather than letting people die of starvation and/or go/stay insane, he just puts them to sleep, hospital style. Relatively wholesome, but wholesome.
