Maliwan went from being so powerful in 1 with anything that was blue or higher quality to being nerfed to just being okay in 2. No idea how good they are in 3, still waiting for steam release

They’re... ok. Each gun has two elements that it can switch between, which gives them versatility, but they need to charge for a second before firing, so I don’t use them often. Besides, I never really felt the extra elemental damage helped me, aside from shields, though that might be because I have an unhealthy obsession with Jakobs guns...

Remember, if it took more than one shot...

I'm a Torgue man myself. It's not as fast as exploiting elemental weakness, but I generally don't need to switch weapons to hurt something.

I think you mean greatness. Honestly, Anarchy Gaige is the only reason to even play Borderlands.
