you know real life science dictates that Mrs. Maheswaran here should be dead because a pearl being blasted in to her head should have penetrated her skull because a pearl getting knocked around by an explosion would make the pearl act like a bullet due to the fact that anything(with mass) going at fast enough speeds will penetrate other things (well unless it's light but that's a whole other story)(again with mass). but as I'm not one to be too nickpickish i will just assume that Steven Universe physics dictates that if a gem gets launched at fast enough speeds and happens to hit a human (or for that matter any intelligent life forms) will get converted in to said gem from home world. (yes i know all of that was nickpicking but hey mini physics lesson for the win). TLDR Mrs. Maheswaran should be dead but she isn't and more over she some how got converted into a pearl (seems like the impact of the pearl did more to give her a concussion and then memory loss than kill her)... SICENCE.

What most likely happened is Maheswaren was a good distance away from the explosion as Peridot found her useless, so Maheswaren was probably not hit by the explosion other than the pearl, now Peridot could have made the pearl turn into a Pearl and she, not being a real gem, could have fused with Maheswaren, but it was most likely still forming so THAT happened.
So that's what could have happened, if I missed anything, tell me and I'll fix my analysis.

For how the whole explosion pearl head incident is realistic, well I've been thinking it over and here's what I assume transpired.
What most likely happened is Maheswaren was a good distance away from the explosion as Peridot found her useless, so Maheswaren was probably not hit by the explosion other than the pearl, now Peridot could have made the pearl turn into a Pearl and she, not being a real gem, could have fused with Maheswaren, but it was most likely still forming so THAT happened.
So that's what could have happened, if I missed anything, tell me and I'll fix my analysis.
Was...was this in response to me be cause if it is the I suppose you could assume that she was standing a fair distance away but even so in a realistic setting when an explosion goes of in the real world at least 50% of deaths caused by explosions are claimed by shrapnal (another 40% by the shock waves and 10% by the explosion it self not) (really exact but just general aproximations) so and the effectivness of shrapnal at going through a skull is very high. In fact one of the only ways to survive shrapnal is to pray that the piece of shrapnal that is gonna hit will be large and has a lot of surface area as so the impact can be spread across the body (according to basic physics)but the pearl that has seemed to hit Mrs. Maheshwaren does seem to have hit on the largest side so the plauseablity of her surviveing is there its just very very low and she would still have to stand 30-40 feet away to be safe from the shockwave and explosion and this is assuming that she and peridot were outside and not indoors with furniture because other wise there would be 1 million other bit and bobs that can hit and kill or badly injure her. So TLDR again she(Mrs. Maheshwaren)should be dead but she was increadable lucky to not have so once again...SICENCE.

Well...cartoon explosions 1. Don't kill and 2. Aren't that big, I'm using Steven Universe logic and it's... Hard to get a scientific answer, even more so, I'm not a scientist, no I didn't base it off any comments or anything, I just looked at Peridot's explanation and a few other things...just, this is what happens at 3 AM when you're tired and stuff.

Yes well first of a pearl isn't that big or even round in nature. Second it's more likely the force of the explosion would destroy the pearl so it wouldn't be possible to do this
