can you explain what poor quality means becuse I want to post something but it keeps getting removed.

Unlike certain sites like DeviantArt, this site has its own Quality Control Center (QCC), which is comprised of 5 users. One of those users is me.

Any users on the site can "flag a post for moderation", which tells us (the QCC) that any flagged posts need to be reviewed for whatever reasons the flagger lists. In the most common case of "poor quality", which you're asking about, this can range anywhere from issues with character anatomy, line quality, resizing, editing (that's for manip posts mainly), perspective, so on and so forth. If you would like to ask me or anyone else on the Staff about why your pic was specifically removed, you're free to do so at any time.

I'm "new" to the hub (basically know the website for a year but created an account a month ago) and I want to post my own work here but even with reading this post, I'm still wondering what "Rating" is ?
Also, since it will be my drawings, I have to ask how do I tag it as my work ? By using the 'tagme' tag ?

the Rating is split into 3 catagories: Explicit is for NSFW works, full nudity, peen, vagoo, that sort of thing. Questionable is for sexually hinting, but not fully lewd, and usually it's best to just decide it's explicit if you're not sure where it falls, Safe is exactly that, pure, clean, and safe for work.

To tag yourself as an artist just put down art:your_artist_name then, after that will register whatever you wrote after art: will be registered as an artist tag, and you can just write the tag without art: from then on.

Dunno if this is the place to ask but I'll give it a shot. What does the dark red star under posts mean? I know the bright red one is 'cause it's been flagged for moderation, but I can't figure out this one.

It means the pic is high resolution.

There's a particular image I want to post here but it says it already exists. Thing is, when I click the link to where it tells me I can see it I'm just directed to the front page and I can't find it at all through the tags that *should* apply to it. Is this a filename thing or something else?

When something like this happens, it usually means that a similar image was uploaded before and then deleted. You could always change your image in an image editor and then try reuploading it. Though it's possible that the previous image was deleted for a reason.
