A username-length limit I can understand, but a password-length limit is somewhat odd.
As I understand it, the general best practice for storing user passwords is to salt it and then store its hash (
www.theguardian.com/techn...ing-hashing-salting-sha-2). Therefore, how long your password is shouldn't affect the amount of data you store in the database, and so you should be able to have very long passwords.
Disclaimer: I don't know if Gelbooru's security is better than the old Hypnohub's.
EDIT: It seems that the password-length limit is a bug.
