What'd you think of the hypnosis in the new My Hero Academia Movie? (possible spoilers?)
Tbh, was kinda underwhelming from both a hypno kink angle and even from an actual plot angle.

Yeah it really wasn't all that, Deborah (the character with the MC quirk who everyone hyped up for it and her design) Doesn't really do all that much besides stand there and be threatening/evil until it's time for her to get packed up by an unconscious man with rocket boots. The MC is mostly a justification for why the main girl isn't constantly trying to escape and is using her power which she hates. Only good scenes with it were whenever they made the girl talk and agree to things she wouldn't, and that one scene that showed what the UA students were doing in the real world while under the hypnosis.

Pretty disappointing tbh, wished they had her be more actively evil/use it to make the characters fight. Like, that was the most obvious thing to me and it literally never happened???? It's not like she can't use her power to make others hurt/try to kill each other, she does it twice, one with the random guy with a quirk that stretches out his arms, and again with the main girl, why didn't she have the UA students fight each other briefly before making a get away or something?

Yeah like from how the quirk functions it seems OP, she just has to look at the person and then they can't escape unless she takes damage AND with the damsel's quirk she can do it to seemingly infinite number of people... like she literally can't be beat without plot armor. Like even with the visages, Deku can't escape it and only breaks free cause the butler OC's cybernetics still work while he's under which fine for him freeing himself but no one else has a means to resist and yet she doesn't even consider turning any of Class 1A against each other. SMH

Personally I was also disappointed with the hypno on Class 1A- like consistency is the problem. The damsel in distress acts stereotypical hypnotized, blank, standing at attention, and same for all the nameless civilians hypnotized... but class 1A are kinda just miming the fantasy she gives them.

Which speaking about the fantasies... kinda annoyed with the consistency there. Like Shoto and Iida seem to get their "heart's true desire" in their fantasies but Momo is just drinking tea in her fantasy???
