A small request... (New Resource Thread Planning)
I might have asked this before but would the mods please consider making a "Manipping Central" thread and stickying it? I know there are a lot of stickies up already but I think this will make it easier for new manippers to produce better content. I think it would be fair to say that a lot of the more low quality content we get on this site is from new manippers producing low quality work.

I think there's something we can do to reduce the frequency of this problem by making it more convenient for them to produce new and better work. If there was a thread stickied with tutorials or tutorial links that focused on manipping that would put significant focus on the art form and bring a degree of enthusiasm and actually degree concern to the standards people have for them.

Since manips are already a big part this site we should do more about the way they are being represented overall. I think this could help.

If the mods agreed to do this I would help contribute in with tutorials or anything else I could do to help.

And if this fails, fire off info that you want to put into it to me. I can do up a page for it, that will be listed in the 'obligatory links list' thread. I have my own personal domain, so I could easily do an extenisve page for stuff like that. Also, I think it'd be better anyway. But I'm biased. I hate long threads since I can't read them on here. DX [dark back+light text is something my eyes don't like. XD]

But yeah. If the staff don't like the idea. I'll work with ya to put it all into a webpage.

I spoke with Lilly on this, I'm ok with the idea as a way for some organization.subforums when?

I know Vann and I have also been discussing some indexing options in general and how to best organize it. If you guys have specific suggestions as to what you would like to see in such a thread, I'm all ears. I'll take drawing-related threads and posts, too.

Thanks guys!

Thank you both very much. Lunakiri, I'll probably take you up on that offer whether things work out on the site or not, if that's okay.

As for the site itself, I'll have to think of a few ideas but I would welcome anyone else's input on what would make a manip/art resource thread better for everyone.

Since this thread looks to be a sure thing, I'll get to work on the various tutorials ASAP. IT might take around a month or too but I'll update as I finish them.

I think what would help is to have the first post containing all the links. If people post their tutorials/tips/resources as imgur or pastebin links then the first post can link then. We'd need someone to curate the content and update the first post. Maybe LillyTank or one of the mods?

Totally support the idea and I'll probably do a couple of tutorials myself

This was my intent from the beginning. I'm glad to see you're on board. Despite my lack of interest in manips with removed irises your work is really impressive to me.

Is it alright if my tutorials are all using Photoshop CS6? I don't use much else. It can be hard to get if you don't know about tbp and googling torrents but it isn't that difficult to obtain if you do.

While I see the reasoning behind such a thread and why it would be useful to sticky, I also don't want to clutter out sticky count any more than it already is...

And I may have out solution.

I was considering creating a sort of "forum index" thread which would contain links to threads of import or particular usefulness. If I make such a thread and link to other useful but not paramount-to-the-site threads, I should manage to clean up our list of stickies while still retaining ease of access to the more useful threads. I imagine such an index thread would be organized much like the Obligatory Links List thread.

While I don't have time to make such a thread now on account of the upcoming finals week and my current FFXIV craze, the Summer vacation is nonetheless coming up quite soon and I will have more than ample time to devote to such a thing soon enough.

Thoughts on this?

I like the idea of a forum index but I still think that there should be a stickied thread solely for tutorials. It doesn't just have to be manipping but I think that would naturally bring a greater focus to the cause of improving image quality. (Basically reducing peoples ability to make excuses.)

The forum index might be organized but it could easily become cluttered as time goes on. I think the subject of various tutorials collected from the site contributors is well worth stickying.

So it's incredibly late but here's the Empty Eyes Tutorial. I'd like someone to try it out so that I can know if there's something I should change for the next tutorials.

As I only use Photoshop CS6, I apologize now, in advance.

So has anyone tried the tutorial yet? I'd like to know what improvements could be made and if I should make another one.

I took a quick look at it. I want a newer version of photoshop >=[

Anyway, some thoughts/critiques:
- I think it would be better if you uploaded your images somewhere instead of making people download them. I'm sort of paranoid about downloading viruses and such (not saying you put any in =P) but since I'm not an expert at that stuff I'd rather just not download things if you could just upload the pictures.

- Some general manip things. Some of the text is cut off or has too less space between it and the border, as well as some typos in the images.

- What you did in the second image was good, where you circled all the tools. However, that was missing in the rest of the images. If the rest of the images were like the second one, that would be great =D (For example, in the first image you said 'duplicate the background', which could be confusing to people who are not used to the programs.)

Looks good LillyTank! Nice beginners guide. Only thing I would change is putting all the images into an imgur gallery rather then a .zip for convenience. I'd certainly like you to make more. Maybe something a bit more advanced.

I've been down a computer for a while but I'm back up and running now. I'll try to get a spiral tut out sometime soon and maybe a quick gimp animation guide

Taking the advice of on Cradily and EdgeoftheMoon, I've tried to adjust my empty eyes tutorial and upload it to the net.

I will eventually sit down and make something regarding gifs @_@

But is there anything specific people would want to know about them? I'd have no idea what would be considered "useful information" since I normally am pretty scatterbrained when it comes to making them.
