How Big is the Hypno Community (relatively speaking)?
So I've been lurker around this neat little fetish for some years now. Every once in an era I come out from under the cheese shaped rock I live under and actually interact with people in the community. Through all that lurking though, I've always wondered one particular question.

How big is the hypno/mc fetish community in relation to other fetish communities?

I don't expect to really get an answer to this question anytime soon. Mind control is just such a versatile subject in both placement and use, that it mixes in with just about anything else, quantifying a size for all that seems...daunting to say the least. Also, has anyone felt like the community as a whole has been growing the past some years?

Thoughts?

I think you just answered your own question ;P.

The MC/hypno fetish is pretty niche. Even though the tons of hypno hentai in all its forms that Japan churns out might allude to something else, one has to remember that vanilla hentai sells relatively bad compared to those catering to niche fetishes with people eager for content to fulfill their sexual fantasies in some way (that like in the case of tentacle porn or hypno stuff can't really be lived out in real life mostly).

Though when looking at Manga it's pretty common. If you look at exhentai you will get a couple of mind control Mangas each week. It's pretty popular in Japan - not as popular as other fetishes like urination or incest, but i have the feeling it's more popular there. The same for Hentai Anime or Movies.

As for Eroge, there have not been a lot of good saimin games in the past couple of months - the best was probably Saiminjutsu Re - a remake of an older popular Eroge. End of June will FINALLY see the next entry into the Soushinjutsu series (Soushinjutsu gaiden) the most popular Eroge series aside from Staffings Saimin Yuughi/Enbu and the Saiminjutsu series.

That's a side of the fetish that's pretty foreign to me. Though recent reading has made it a more burgeoning interest.

The main barriers there are that I don't know japanese, limiting the enjoyment of the games and making their websites like eldritch mysteries to me. Along with the idea that hypno porn isn't exactly something I'd pay for.

1.This is the internet. No one really pays for his porn if he doesn't want to and knows where to look/how to google. No chance of anyone posting links in here though, too shady and risky for the hubs longlivety.

2. There are translation programs/text hookers (AGTH) that turn the Japanese text into semi-understandable Engrish depending on the visual novel and translation programs selected. That has been discussed quite a few times in the forum already so I don't feel like posting a complete tutorial now, use the search option or check any thread concerning MC in video games/eroge/visual novels.

3. There are a few MC eroge that actually ARE translated, most well known being Prison Battleship 1+2 (with less known games like "hypno training my mother and sister" being available as well [yes, that's actually a game title, although that game requires a certain amount of acceptance/resistance concerning forced rape/humiliation/doggy walking/public urination etc. etc. which you can't skip, you have been warned])

Thanks for the info. It is a relatively newer/foreign interest for me So I have yet to take the time and effort needed to acquire and enjoy it. Time will tell if I ever do.

Back to the topic, I find myself in agreement that the community is niche and kinda tiny...Why does the word "homely" come to mind?

Disclaimer: I don't know anything about website metrics. However, just as a starting point, <<www.alexa.com/siteinfo/hypnohub.net|Alexa>> puts us as the 40,000th most popular site in the United States, which doesn't seem bad. (Interestingly, it claims 11% of our traffic comes from Japan.) There's also about 7500 registered users on the website, although most of them are probably lurkers or inactive accounts. AFAIK a lot of the traffic for a website like this comes from unregistered users, and I assume that most of the accounts actually registered on this website are unused or infrequently used, so I'd guess about 10,000 people use this website on a somewhat regular basis.

Now, if we consider that there's a good number of other hypnosis websites or websites with hypnosis content, as well as the decent amount of erotic MC material that gets produced regularly in Japan, I'd put the size of the active global hypnosis community at about 100,000 people. That's total bullshit and just what sounds right to me, and if you count people who used to be a part of it but aren't anymore, and people who have a mind control fetish but have never participated in a community related to it, the number would probably be higher.

I'll be honest, 1/10000 people or 0.01% of humanity actually kind of sounds like a lot!

10k is probably way overestimated
i'd guess 600 active (visiting several times monthly) registered users 15000 unregistered (discounting bots) for this site based on what i've seen for post scores
this site is on the whole irrelevant in the grand scheme of things though; 100k is way underestimating
i've seen (english) stories fairly frequently get 60k views, youtube videos related to erotic hypnosis in the hundreds of thousands etc.
without conducting a survey, i'd say we could mix 5m from japan (less than 1/20 of its population, probably underestimated if you were to survey their opinion on the fetish) along with 5-10m global who would respond positively to some group of hypnosis-related material
100k might be more accurate if you just consider content creators + comment leavers, since those two groups usually account for 1% of groups as a whole

tl;dr i'd put the group of people who know that they enjoy some form of hypnofantasy porn at around 13 million, or about the size of tokyo

*Raises hand*

Well part of that 11% >_>

But yeah, this actually is a pretty cool thing to think about.

Hypnohub has over 260K people (users) who visited in the past 30 days so your 10k guess is a bit to low.

By your math Petal's guess is high, since 260000/30 = 8667 average users per day. There is really now telling though once you factor in bots. The web page I'd be most curious about is MC stories. I've been reading that one since before I should have (legally speaking). It has had a long term presence and related forum. It would be interesting to compare the metrics, since I'm betting they get a different crowd.

Unless I misunderstood, I think that's 260,000 unique users, not visits. So that would be 260,000 people regularly using the hub, where as the estimate of 10,000 wasn't per day but active visitors.

Granted I don't have the site numbers so I only know what Slayer and Vann tell me @_@

Edit: Also we currently have 9,182 registered users. I'm assuming we have about two-thirds of those being inactive and a small fraction blocked or removed (for spambots or otherwise).

I'd guess that maybe 200-300 people actively vote and comment on things here?

Now that would be interesting! And I owe an apology for completely misunderstanding the statement!
