What is it like to be hypnotized?
I've always heard stories of real hypnosis, and I long for the feeling of losing my mind to someone. Is there anyone who's experienced it and is willing to share what it's like?

There are different levels of trance state from my experience. You have the waking trance where you're relaxed, calm, maybe a little fuzzy or drifty and you go along with things because that's what you're supposed to do. You think it's just peer pressure or you going along because it's what you want, but I've had suggestions on things I would be embarrassed to do, too self conscious or just afraid, did them okay because I was in the trance. It's akin to being drunk. Lowered inhibitions, less critical thinking.

Naturally a person is in this state when they are "in the zone" while working, driving, playing sports or vidya. Your mind and body are in comfortable ryhthm and you are calm enough to focus on task without manually thinking about everything.

Easiest to induce via Ericksonian/Rapid/Instant inductions. Best displayed in stage shows.

Next is "dreaming" hypnosis, where your eyes are closed and you cam visualize pretty well. More than anything it is a lucid dreaming state. Meditation's goal is to bring you here. Sensory deprivation tanks are another in world place where this state is often achieved.

Naturally I am pretty sure this only occurs in REM sleep state. As a hypnotist you want to watch for your subject's eyes to flicker to indicate this level of depth.

In hypnosis circles this is usually reserved for therapy or regression.

Lastly fractionation. Where you are bounced up and down so much you lose track of everything and are too disoriented to really recall much.

Achieved through prolonged play or lengthy exposure to audio with heavy alpha/theta wave patterns. Be warned the waves will give you a hell of a headache and aren't worth it in my opinion.

The benefit of that last one is post-hypnotic amnesia is easiest in this practice.

Anyway... That's my experience only.

That sounds so beautiful... I'd do anything to experience it all...

Heh, me too. Unfortunately, from my experiences, hypnosis just feels like roleplaying >.<

That's because you haven't actually been in a deep trance yet.

It's hard to say for certain what I've actually experienced when listening to audio files. It's completely different than an actual session due to the absence of feedback (although I've never tried a session with anybody personally...)

Generally, even if I'm mostly still self-aware of what's happening, I tend to feel more inclined to listen to the suggestion and just do it for the most part. I don't ever felt like I've completely "forgotten" what's happened, but rather, feel a little fuzzy on the manner(If I'm even in a somewhat deep trance to begin with..... I think)

That's about as deep as I've gone.... I think.....

That feel when you always get too turned on to relax enough for trance.

If you get too distracted by how aroused you are by the induction to relax, you might want to try an induction that isn't based on relaxation.

I've never been in a deep trance, just a light one.
I just feel a soothing feeling of disconnection, like I'm there...but not there at the same time.

I can relate. The thing is that, for me, once I become aware of it, it's the end of that. Stupid, meddling frontal lobe...

This is pretty much how I feel, still self-aware but more just, following without really any second thoughts for the most part.

Idk, I feel as though once I get to a certain point in trance and try to go deeper, something happens that tends to bounce me right back up and my mind refuses to just let go or something pops into my head that I start over-thinking or something.

That or what happened last night where I get too aroused during the induction again and end up getting distracted and waking myself up from it.

Any specific recomendations? You should know that just the conversation topic of hypnosis is pretty well enough to get me going.

Haha yeah you just can't help it, especially certain voices. It's not the end of the world, I'm very basic at it but I have tranced others before. So there's that.

However there are hypno files that say that the more aroused you are the deeper you go, that works for me really well. And at some point after going deeper and deeper I forget that I'm aroused and my brain just goes numb. Tis' a wonderful feeling :D
