What are you reading?
My books too read piles is looking a bit thin so I need some suggestions. Just started reading the new Sherlock Holmes "The House Of Silk" the other day and I'm enjoying it so far. Just finished "Constellation Games" which I can highly recommend. Aliens make first contact and a game reviewer attempts to understand their culture though their video games

In my too read pile I have "The Long Mars". The first one in the series I don't have a signed copy of ;-;. The first book ("The Long Earth") is great but the second one was a bit meh. Also "Use Of Weapons" from the culture series. Great series but be warned the first book is not that great and does a pretty poor job of introducing the culture. The second one "Player Of Games" is much better and a good intro as well

Also what's your favorite book? For me it's probably a tie between "Neverwhere" By Neil Gaiman, "Anathem" by Neal Stephenson and "Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrel" By Susanna Clarke

If you're into epic fantasy [and I mean the actual lit term. The whole fantastical world and all tha jazz] you should check out the Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind. I'm currently rereading the series and lovin' it all over again =D

A few of my favourite books are "Misfortune" by Wesley Stace, "Ancillary Justice" by Ann Leckie, "Paprika" by Yasutaka Tsuitsui and "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman. Right now I'm reading "Kagerou Daze -in a daze-" by Jin and "The Recommendation of Kyouko Okitegami" by Nisioisin.

I recommend the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan if you are in to fantasy novels.

If you like sci-fi I recommend starfist series and I don't remeber the two authors names as I've only been able to track down a couple volumes from the series.

Hey me too! What did you think about that bit in the second post where it goes all meta?

The only physical manga I have is the first three volumes of "Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer", "Ghost in the Shell" and the FLCL manga (Much darker and even more WTF inducing then the anime)

The last time I really followed a manga online was Bakuman but I did binge read most of Douman Seiman's stuff online a couple of months ago. "Oddman 11" and "The Voynich Hotel" are worth your time

Yessss. To American Gods. Loved that book. Friend of mine's been reading Ancillary Justice and sword and said it "Really messed with my head space". Her being her that might have been a recommendation

Haven't actually read that much pure fantasy stuff. Just the obvious ones "Game of thrones" "Lord of the Rings" "The Hobbit" "The Simarillion". Have read lots of urban fantasy like Neil Gaiman's and China Melville's stuff. Used to like David Eddings but haven't read that in years. Tried "The Name of the Wind" but couldn't get into it

For Sci-Fi stuff apart from the amazing culture books there's most of John Scalzi's work. His "Old man's war" series is great. Demolished those in about a month

Also can't believe I missed "The Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy" off my favorites list. I do not know where my towel is today ><

Yay for Douman Seiman! I haven't read those yet, but I really liked "Nickleodeon".

Woo American Gods! It changed the way I think about faith, and America.
That pretty much tallies up with my experience of Justice, too. It really gave my imagination a workout.

Journal papers Q-Q And the abstracts for a bunch since we don't have an Elsevier subscription...

I read a lot of mystery novels actually, usually a chapter before I go to bed helps me sleep better. And the occasional manga.

Also used to read a lot of fantasy novels. I was really big into the Shannara series and I should probably get back into it @_@

Also: House of Leaves. I've heard some contrasts on it. Anyone recommend or not recommend it? I'm thinking about adding that to my list.

Yup. I don't sleep well unless I've read a bit before bed. What mystery novels do you recommend? I really like Jeffery Deaver. His Lincoln Rhyme series is great especially "The Cold Moon" and "The Vanished Man". Also his stand alone one "The Blue Nowhere" is great as well

Heard nothing but good things about House Of Leaves. Was talking about it work yesterday actually. It's pretty high up on my too read list as well

I read buttloads of manga. I'm a geek, its in my nature.
Sorry if it isn't anything deep or profound like what everyone else is reading.

...I should probably crack open a regular book at some point. o3o

If you like lord of the rings then wheel of time you must read as it surpasses it by a mile.
