So first up, my NNID is Dugg_E_Fresh. I currently have a squad I roll with, but I'm up for doing some freelance work. I'm currently rank B+, but I haven't played ranked mode in a while.

Right now, I'm maining the Splatterscope, but I'm also fond of using the .96 Gal (& Deco), Forge Splattershot Pro, and the Luna Blaster. As well as a few other weapons from time to time, though rarely outside Turf Wars.

My current sniping loadout is

Mains:
3 x Damage Up

Subs:
2 x Damage Up
3 x Ink Saver Main
2 x Ink Recovery Up
2 x Swim Speed Up

I.... I'm surprised that I hadn't actually made this thread myself.
XD
I love Splatoon. Play it WAY too often.
Or at least I did... until I started replaying FF9 again. Lol..

Anyway!

If anyone wants to play with me, I'm Lunakiri on the Wii U =)
[Surprise surprise, right? XD]

I tend to bounce between a couple of weapons. I'll let ya know what they are once I can check again [TV is in use, therefore I can't check atm. =( ]

YAY SPLATOON! It's the game that actually made me decide to get a WiiU. =w= I've been playing for quite a bit, but haven't done ranked yet.
My ID is Generale_Onox . I used the bucket for a good while, but now I'm discovering the aerospray XD
STAY FREEESH!

Also I want to share this stuff. Not my work of course, but "I KNOW THAT FEEL" material.

I've tended to vary my hat based on my weapon (ink saver main for the .54 gal and squelchers, bomb range up for the splash-o-matic, attack up for blasters), while i prefer special-saver or quick respawn in the shirt, and then stealth jump or ink resist in the shoes. The latter depends on the mode. Ink resist is better for turf wars and splat zones, stealth jump for tower control and Rainmaker.

.54 gal deco, custom/regular jet squelcher, luna blaster, and splash-o-matic are my favored weapons.

I'm shit with chargers. A- rank.

The .52 Gal is a really solid weapon for ranked mode (not so much the Deco version, though). One thing to bear in mind when using it, though, is that one Defense Up (not sure if it has to be a main ability or not) on your opponent will increase your hits to kill from 2 to 3. It's not a bad idea to run some Damage Ups when using it.

I generally prefer Ink Resistance Up on my shoes, except when I'm running as a sniper. The difference that ability makes even after the nerf is really noticeable, and I don't like not having it. It's saved my ass so many times. You're right that Stealth Jump is a big help in Tower Control, though.

I find that abilities like Special Saver and Quick Respawn are really great for battlers who like to get into the thick of things. A lot of folks avoid them because "I don't want an ability that only helps if I die a lot", but let's face it, unless you're playing way below your skill level, you're going to die a lot. Another ability like that that can really help is Comeback. It basically functions as an Ink Saver Main, Ink Saver Sub, Swim Speed Up, and Run Speed Up for 20 seconds after you respawn.

^ Which, 20 seconds is plenty of time to get back in and get splatted again in some ranked fights, lol. Even when you're doing good, splat one, die while splatting a second one, all within 15 seconds.

Stealth Jump is practically required for rainmaker or Tower Control, except on a small stage like Blackbelly.

Mmm... I wouldn't really say it's required. Definitely not so for Rainmaker, imo. It can certainly be helpful, though. I suppose a part of it depends on what role you want to play on your team. I still generally prefer to have Ink Resistance if I'm in any role besides sniper. The extra movement ability you get is such a big help in intense fights.

Maybe you guys can help me with something. I'm working on a loadout right now to use with the .96 Gal and .96 Gal Deco, but I'm having a hard time deciding what to go for. I more or less know I want a shirt with Cold Blooded and shoes with Ink Resistance, but I'm not sure what else I should try to get. I know I need some Ink Saver Main, because the .96 Gal is pretty ink-hungry (though not as much as the Splat Pro) and some Ink Saver Sub because their sub weapons are both kind of costly. I also feel like I should have some Special Charge Up, because their specials are very important. And probably some Swim Speed Up to give me a bit more mobility when not shooting.

The problem is, I don't think there's any combination of gear that will give me exactly what I want. So, I'm trying to find what will help the most and not look like shit.

Jungle Hat is my go-to for ink saver main in a hat.

I know there are charts out there that say which brands have which chance of rolling certain subs, and then you can try to get ink saver sub or special charge up through some rerolls.

Oh, I'm familiar with all that, it's just that there's no way to get all the abilities I want in my gear. Like, right now, I'm running the following:

Hat:
Special Charge Up
2 x Ink Saver Main
Quick Respawn

Shirt:
Cold Blooded
3 x Ink Saver Sub

Shoes:
Ink Resistance
2 x Swim Speed Up
Ink Saver Main

This is... okay... but I feel like having Ink Saver Main as a main ability would be more helpful than having 3 subs. Or maybe it's not worth it at all, I'm really not sure. If it weren't for wanting Cold Blooded on the shirt, I could easily use one that has Ink Saver Main as its main and a high chance of rerolling Special Charge Ups. But I consider Cold Blooded to be very useful, especially in squad battles, so I'm kinda stuck with what I have now. I could use Ink Resistance shoes that are more likely to roll Ink Saver Mains, but that would mean sacrificing Swim Speed Up. I could use a hat that has Ink Saver Main as its main, but that means sacrificing Special Charge Up (I've looked at a list of all the gear and there is no headwear that is likely to get both Special Charge Up and Ink Saver Main).

So, I guess I'm just asking what you guys think I should focus on with a .96 Gal. Am I putting too much stock in Ink Saver Main? Is Swim Speed Up that needed? Do you think I should worry so much about Special Charge Up? Just kinda interested in hearing other opinions.

Psi is a little... bothered that Melanie keeps sniping him. ;)

I don't know how many of you take a look at Squid Boards, but even if you do, it can be easy to miss this, so I'll link it here.

This neat thing lets you select the abilities you want on your gear and comes up with a list of optimal gear for getting that loadout, sorted by a rough number of Sea Snails you need to use to get it. I used this to come up with loadouts for my secondary weapons, and currently to deck out the rest of my squad mates.
