Clip Studio Paint/Manga Studio 5 %60 off
Thought this might interest any budding artists on the Hub. Clip studio paint is on sale until this Tuesday! I know a couple of Hub artists already use it and the artists at my job rave about it so here's that link

Errrr
Last I checked, Clip Studio Paint =/= Manga Studio. =(

Please correct your thread title so as to NOT be drawing people like me in only to be disappointed.
[I seriously though it was MS. DX But ... but it's not. T^T]

It is the same program. It even says so on the Manga Studio website. my.smithmicro.com/manga-studio-5.html "Manga Studio 5 and CLIP STUDIO PAINT PRO are the same applications". Clip Studio Paint is the just the name of the download version of the software.

I actually just bought the program a week ago... great timing on my part as always....

Just bought it, looks like it works just like SAI with a ton more features so anyone who uses sai should check it out.

I've stared at it quite a bit since getting it since it was only 15 dollars, but I have no idea what to do with it. xD Problem with having a ton of features and functions. Gotta learn a bunch of interface to get to make use of it.

I taught my self all the tools over an afternoon by going through each of them one by one and also playing with their options. If you give yourself about 2-3 hours you'll be able to master most of it.

I managed to get it yesterday :D

I'm glad I can costumize the UI position to match SAI, but I still need to familiarize with the brush stabilizer since I'm too attached with SAI's.

...dem it
the stabilizer's too weird for me >__>

CSP is GREAT! :3

some rules are different from SAI, but it's still extremely good application.
and yeah, you'll need a lot of time to customize stuffs on this :3

some tips and tricks i found myself :
prob :
1. have a problem with the UNDO ? its UNDOING MORE THAN 1 MOVE, unlike SAI?
solution :
go to
File > Preferences > Performance > Delay before recognizing new object to undo after drawing > reduce from 500 ms to 100 or 75 ms
you can also increase undo count :3

2. the blend is WEIRD! most of the time it ERASES the color instead!
solution :
reduce the color stretch to 1 up to 10
also make sure your pen pressure affects the blend density!

OR

usually, what you need is BLUR, not blend.
you can also make another water tool with 0 density paint and 0 amount paint to make a SAI-like blend tool :)

3. WHERE IS SAI LUMINOSITY?
there isn't luminosity in CSP, sadly, but you can use hardlight and Add (glow) layer type instead, does roughly the same, if not better :)

4. how to change lineart color? (usually in SAI, you just need to check the 'preserve opacity' and 'selection source' )

solution : make a new layer, find 'clip at layer below' right below the layer type (normal, multiply, hard light, overlay, etc)
check it, then go change its color there :3

these are 4 main problems i have when switching from SAI to CSP. hope i helps :3
