I'd say the point at which you love someone is the point at which, in every context and every meaning of the words, you care for their safety and well being more than you do yours.

I'll get this out of the way right now so that everybody can get it out of their systems: Baby don't hurt me. Don't hurt me. No more. Now we can focus on the question itself.

Really, love is different to different people. I'd say it's a feeling of completeness, the target of the emotion being, in almost every sense of the word, your other half. Everything he is complements her and vice versa. The two enjoy being together, minimize time apart, and make the most of every bit of their time together. They can't fathom life without the other, or not ending up together. They trust each other implicitly, and would do pretty much anything for the other for pretty much any reason. (Oh, and, you know, romance, but really that's just a side benefit to true love like that. :P) But that's all just my view of love, there's no one right answer and I would imagine that every answer on this thread will be valid in its own right.

Love? What is love? What is free love?
What is free for? What is for?
What is girl? What is free girl?
What is...

Love is free.

Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope... Love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticule, and together, achieving a singular purpose against statistically long odds.

I'd say there is no one true definition. Heck, I'm not even sure there even is 'love', rather than a highly variable mix of separate emotions in highly variable quantities resulting in highly variable outcomes that we then shorthand as 'love'.

Bondage, full bondage too. I'm talking ball gags, blindfolded, hanging from the ceiling as machines ram all her holes. Trust me.

Love is the euphoria of goodwill. Where that goodwill is directed differs, perhaps to a friend, to a partner, to a community, or to oneself. So long as the expression of goodwill makes you feel good, that is love.

love is a generic procedure.

Its arguments are a template 'definition' and a template 'focus_of_affection'. The parameter 'definition' is itself a function, procedure or a pointer to a sub-program.
When called, the 'definition' of love operates on the 'focus_of_affection'. Hence the 'definition' of love must be able to accept the 'focus_of_affection'.

The parameter 'focus_of_affection' may be a single value, datastructure(i.e. a list) or another sub-program. In fact the 'focus_of_affection' is only limited by the 'definition' of love.

There is no return value. This function produces side effects. Love may be called recursively, though the 'definition' of love may cause an infinite loop and program termination.

Love as I see it is an entity that binds the soul; sometimes fueling our desires, or even passionate affairs. The question to me is asking not only what love is, but how it subjectively operates in each and every one of us. How love stands upon the summit of ones heart, displaying unto us what it really means to be human. To answer your question, love is nothing and everything at the same time; the best course of action is to reflect upon yourself and think deeply about what you most want. But mind not the ramblings of a madman ^^;

Oddly enough there are probably many worse sites to ask that.
Hub second after Google confirmed. Suck it, Bing!

To answer the question though...

Love is a lot of things, but when it's between two people? I'd say it's the most sincere & joyful form of trust they could share.
