Getting a copyright tag?
Hello, do I have to specially ask or can I go ahead and make one?

My justification for wanting to do so is that I own several characters that are, otherwise, not associated. I figured maybe it might be easier to have a copyright tag so people can easily find stuff with my characters rather than having to search by individual name if didn't care which of my characters they wanted to see, or wanted to just see all. xb

Original characters get the "original" tag. You can't make a copyright tag for characters that don't belong to a copyright.

Technically I own the rights to their designs. So technically I am their copyright holder.

I think the copyright namespace is meant for characters who existed in a copyrighted work beforehand. Maybe a better synonym would be "franchise" or "series"?

Why do we use "copyright", anyway?

Are there tags for those? care to share with how to make them please?

And because I figured that would be the best tag that all would uniformly have. I have a friend that has his stuff with its own copyright on the other image site due to having so many chars.

Basically, unless your characters are part of a series that has some form of commercial presence, with very few exceptions, you can't make a special copyright tag for them.

But check this out hypnohub.net/post?tags=*%28lapsa%29

Boom, searching for your characters is as easy as using the search's wildcard feature.

Not here. Hypnohub only supports artist, character, copyright and circle namespaces, unfortunately.

There's no reason you couldn't make your own copyright tag, if you think your characters warrant one. It might just get removed if mods decide it doesn't belong, is all. I don't personally see the need, but that's not to say others wouldn't find utility in it.

While there is not yet any commercial presence as far as famous corporations are concerned, I still maintain something should exist. If the term 'copyright' riffles too many of your feathers for some reason, perhaps there is another tag I could use?

Also...
No, it isn't. The wildcard feature doesn't help, You might notice some characters are missing.
I own these as well:
hypnohub.net/post?tags=diamond_suit+
hypnohub.net/post?tags=spade_suit+
hypnohub.net/post?tags=heart_suit
hypnohub.net/post?tags=club_suit

Apologies if I wasn't clear about owning several characters.

Also, I didn't even know that feature existed, and I'm sure several others are with me.

I do appreciate your suggestion though.

I own over 12 characters, six of which have made it to the site (though one doesn't even have a tag yet. xb one of crazycowproduction's pieces has her in it)

I feel that it would be the best solution for it, though I guess some people feel that that word is far too strong for some reason. Who knows.

The quick fix here would be to append _(lapsa) to those tags, and the wildcard would work.

Alternately, you might be able to pool everything together, although that would be a bitch to setup and maintain.

I think I might try creating a copyright anyhow and leaving it to the mods to decide if it should stay or not. Adding _lapsa still doesn't solve the issue that who even knows that feature exists and plus if you are going to make me go that far I don't see why having a copyright tag would be an issue. I do own the rights to the characters, so technically copyright tag wouldn't be incorrect to use in this context. I might not be a multi-trillion USD corporation, but I can still own the rights to things.

Again, I appreciate everyone's help, thank you very much.

I think it's a mix of things. First, there's no precedent for it (here at least). There are many other original characters on here, but we don't tag their copyright holders, just the character itself and the artist.

Even though they might be your literal copyright, that's not how that namespace has been used historically. We mean it to be for characters from an existing work. If your characters were in a comic or something similar, then a copyright tag would be much easier to argue, for instance.

Again, it's not really that big of a deal to me. I'm just arguing for the fun of it, I don't have any real stake in this.

If I get published works with my characters in them will that count?

And most people have one character. I have multiple, many. I'm also going through all the copyright tags now just to see. Because, as I said, the other image site has copyright tags for people. 'Original' doesn't always cut it.

Okay. Corruption of Champians has its own copyright.

If Fenoxo's work is enough to merit a copyright. I think I am justified in getting one too.
