The Encounter (Live Action Snake Hypnosis Movie)
Saw that no one had discussed this movie here, so I thought I'd make a thread for it. An amateur live action movie inspired by the Kaa encounters in the Jungle Book. Starring <<www.youtube.com/user/down2marsAngel|Agnes Zee>> (there are videos of her going under hypnosis on her YouTube channel) with video editing done by <<www.youtube.com/user/Smileyguy10000|Kaa VFX>>. Scheduled for release on May 1.

$30 to RENT the 17 minute movie.

$30 for something that short is just gross. There is no way anyone in their right mind would pay for that, especially on youtube where you know they can't get away with to much.

The price is ridiculous enough considering how short it is, but that's also just to RENT it. It's not like $30 buys you an HD mp4 of the movie that you can save on your PC and watch whenever you like. That's $30 to watch it online for only as long as the uploader says you can.

I mean you could just, you know, rip the video and save it

However I'm sure they don't have the rights to sell a "Jungle Book Story" in this manner so you could probably throw Disney an email and get them slapped around until they change their profit model

I mean, possibly. But I've had some YouTube videos that refused to be ripped before. Not only that, but most ripping programs won't rip 1080p video from YouTube with audio. So, I'd have to rip both the video and audio separate and then piece them together in my own editing program...

And it still doesn't change the fact that it's $30 for 17 minutes.

The Jungle Book itself is actually in the public domain, So long as they don't use anything that explicitly belongs to Disney it's fine. Just like The Little Mermaid the story was around for a long time and anyone can use it, Disney just owns the most well known version.

Is it wrong that when you said Encounter, I thought; <<youtu.be/lnKeN9zIkoE|this?>>

If it had been a purchase, I don't find it that weird. It seems somewhere in line with what you'd find on c4s. The fact that it's something you rent is just shit. I'd consider paying for it in order to record audio video outputs, but the kicker for me is that it's not even available in my country. I've been updating like mad, waiting for the video to drop, and now it turns out I can't even pay to watch it if I wanted to.

Talk about disappointment of the week.

Disappointment of the month. If you're not living in the US you wouldn't even be able to rent/buy/watch it if you wanted to, unless you use VPN or proxy (which really doesn't work well with streams). The price is just gross, if it was buy to keep it would be at least somewhat justified ... but as a rented stream? Pffffffffffffffff, please, come on.

Buying youtube movies or even paid premium channels have always been a messy affair to begin with, this takes the whole thing to a new, absurd level.

I am sure that they would lose a fight with Disney over the right to Kaa in particular as they are clearly using Disney's version of the character.

If Disney can get standing in a case, Disney will win the case.

Something like github.com/rg3/youtube-dl should work for whatever, I think

I tried it but I couldn't pull it either from where I live, it's only available in the US and Canada. Considering it detects geo-locking, I'm guessing it'll detect that it's a rent video but I don't know for certain.

Does look good, but not $30 good. I could go to the bar and get shitfaced enough to hallucinate a better story for the same amount.

The girl and the effects while nice looking, and intrest me, do not make me want to spend 30 dollars for it. even if it was to keep, I would never pay 30$ for the movie. So sucks I can't watch it, would have loved too.

She screwed herself from anyone buying it. Honestly, I would have just put it on a page with ads. That way you can actually make your money back.
