Hypno manips are...
...the visual equivalent of nightcore remixes. Discuss.

Mostly agree. They certainly are remixes and often don't stray all that much from the original picture so yeah. But. I like to think I put a bit more effort into mine they just speeding up a song! That might just be my foolish pride talking

The basic ones, maybe. The ones with text, that tell a story, tell it well and manage to still be reasonably short, I'd say are a bit more.

I don't like several kinds of manips... they are often lazy and just adding some simple effects. Then again others that add colours, animation, story, or really change a picture into a different thing, are really good hypno stuff.
My advice anyway is always, if you're good enough to manip a picture, try learning how to draw, or do some collabs with artists!

I'm learning to draw right now! I'm a manipper as well, so, I'm biased!

Pretty much this, although i found the manipping easy (admittedly, I have a whole since-this-morning's worth of experience there) and the actual drawing hard. I've tried to learn in the past, but I guess I really need to sit down and go at it properly ...

Good luck, I'd never attempt something stupid like that. [spoiler] because I'm busy practising my multishines (harder than drawing)

Fair comparison, I manipped before I drew here, everyone starts somewhere.

I like to think of the difference is more like a cooked meal and junk food. If you're new to cooking most of what you make is shit and no one likes it and that's fair because it is objectively shit, but you get better as you do it more you make some nice stuff and people don't call you shit now and everyone is happy. And junk food is prepackaged, easy, quick and enjoyable for a wide net of people, but you can't do as much with it.

<<hypnohub.net/forum/show/1456|Some thoughts from ~3 years ago>>

I tried to get into drawing. It didn't work. I didn't exactly enjoy it, and the time required to produce something was too much. I never had the desire to get into drawing, the reason I started making manips was because I enjoyed thinking of scenarios about hypnosis based on the images I came across. I like the overall picture that was drawn, and I just wanted to change it into something that suits my fetish so I can enjoy it better.

So I'll continue to manip instead of learning how to draw. You can hate me all you want, but I tag the artists, I provide the source, I'll (or the mods will) remove the image if the artist wants it gone and that is good enough for me.

Personally I'm of the mind that the less you have to add to a manip, the better. In general all changes are, as far as I'm concerned, cheap and only serve to lessen the quality of the overall work. However, since you're making something to suit a particular fetish, I get why the result will be of higher value to a few fringe "collectors". With that mindset, I simply do my best to preserve the original while making the few changes I make appear as authentic as possible.

And regarding drawing; maybe in another three years. You're not getting any half-assed doodles from me.

I want to make an addition to this analogy, animated manips are like cakes and cookie pizzas people make out of candy bars and gumdrops which are amazing so all you manippers get animating.
