It's no secret that nobody play hentai games expecting Dark Souls level gameplay, but sometimes they surprise you with gameplay that's surprisingly engaging.

I'll start with Sengoku Rance. It's a pretty ridiculously deep strategy game for a hentai game. It requires some good unit and resource management for you to actually beat it, not to mention having you choose whether you should conquer or have a faction surrender to you, with differing consequences for either.

Kurovadis is a damn good metroidvania platformer and also EXTREMELY difficult. Some sections require some precise platforming, and the attack patterns and the placement of the enemies really emphasize the "vania" part of the game. There are only a few bosses, but good lord do they require some trying.

Anyone else experienced games like this?

Monster Girl Quest.

Well, in the same vein as Rance, there's Eiyuu Senki. It's a strategy game where the aim is to conquer the world with your legion of female versions of legendary leaders, natch. How and where you start conquering plays a large role in your tactics and how your builds end up. For example, the first main branch lets you try to conquer China, the Mongol hordes, or India. Taking China gets you three characters, and is the easiest to conquer; Mongolia gives two characters that hard counter a bunch of stuff, but is tougher to conquer; and India gives you one of its characters right off the bat, but you have to struggle to get anywhere and have to eat hard counters a lot. That said, the official English version does cut out all of the 18+ stuff.

Once upon a time I played something called Kamidori Alchemy Meister. Basically you go exploring dungeons with a bunch of characters- mainly (monster)girls. The levels and enemies vary enough to give the player a fair challenge at times, especially when there's some special victory conditions like 'this character can't get hit' or 'complete this map in 5 turns or less'. Just to get across how much gameplay-to-sex we're talking about, it'll likely take 20-30 hours (reading through dialogue) to start encountering the sex scenes. To be totally honest you may wish to impose yourself some restrictions like no skill swapping for fielded characters to make it more interesting, but it's not required. Besides that there's a shop management aspect to the game, but it's not that important.

Then there's something called Yumina the Ethereal I've been playing of late. I'm told the combat is akin to Paper Mario, but I've never played it, so can't really attest to the accuracy of that statement. Anyway, you basically control a set of four characters against another set of four, or a single stronger opponent. The thing's set up so that there's a single 'forward' character at a time attacking, and three 'backyard' characters using support abilities, weakening enemies, buffing the forward and interrupting enemy support skills. What abilities you can use depends on a little 'audience' bar that shifts around when you use abilities, meaning you may have to plan ahead each turn to be able to pull of the moves you want without other battlers messing things up for you.


For the uninitated, I'll take the liberty to provide the briefest of explanations, as this thread might as well act as a sort of unofficial recommendation thread. One boy, a fuckton of monster girls of just about any kind (seriously, there's mermaids, harpies, slime girls, (loli) vampires (that one's got a MC attack, btw *wink*), kitsunes, sea slug girls, iron maiden girls)... Each encounter has it's own tricks to it, for instance sometimes it's imperative to struggle to escape an enemy's binding attack, and sometimes to keep attacking despite the binds. The game will give you hints on what to do as the encounters go on, so reading the text can often help you out. Oh, and you get the sex upon losing, so in the immortal words of the Dwarf Fortress fanbase, Losing is Fun.

I like Brave Souls, It's a bit of a standard top down dungeon crawler kind of RPG. But it's plenty of fun. You play a bit of a bland hero guy and the girls are a bit cliche but it has a kind of older anime charm.

I just have one major issue...The fucking Dice dungeon is the most irritating bullshit!

There actually aren't any from the encyclopedia, no idea why Spirals linked that. It's got some F2P crap pulling it down but Millennium War Aigis is solid tower defense game where most of your "towers" can be romanced

Renryuu Ascension is still in development, but for the few minutes I played it with a cousin of mine for the lulz, it seemed like it's on a solid track.

I highly recommend Kamidori, as already mentioned it takes a while to reach the sex scenes, but gameplay wise I found it to be a lot of fun and there's lots of stuff to do (hell, I actually skipped over some of the sex scenes so I could go back to playing the game).
Apparently, Eushully (the company that made the game) does a lot of eroge with gameplay, but Kamidori's the only one that's been translated.

There's a mix. Try romancing a witch their scenes might interest you. Also they do magic damage which makes them great against armored enemies and you can pair them with an archer to watch them wreak big enemies
