Stand by me
If you were a Jojo character what kind of Stand would you have.

I said mine before 'Hotel California'. It would be like a mix of Strength and Super Fly, A huge Hotel that I'm trapped in. But anyone who enters is trapped as well with no way to leave.

Okay, so what are the requirements for Stand names, for those who don't know or only know a little (like me)? Obviously we've got to name them after classic rock songs, but I need references and some guidelines on what to do. I've only watched up to around episode five of Stardust Crusaders. That's it.

That being said, just from watching those five episodes, the 80s arc is HYPE.

Well it can be a band or a song, It does not have to have anything to do with the power. I can link the wiki page with all the Stands, Though I would suggest only looking at names, Cause reading anything else is a huge Spoiler.

But some have more modern names, Like Spice Girl, and Notorious B.I.G.

It doesn't have to be classic rock, it can be artists (e.g. Cinderella, Aerosmith, Red Hot Chili Pepper), song names (The Lock, Killer Queen, Purple Haze), albums (Gold Experience, Harvest, Achtung Baby) or just mythological things (all stands from Part 3). It doesn't have to be rock music or even old music, a lot of newer stands are named after relatively new music (there are stands based on content from Prince, U2, Green Day, etc).

Thanks for all the info.

I guess for mine... well, I'm a fan of rock music in general, but I'll go with the classic 80s band Foreigner in this case.

Mine would be "Hot Blooded", and the power would amplify as a fight progresses from adrenaline and exertion heating up the body, as well as how aggressive I get in a fight. It would essentially work out like a berserker state that was more focused and didn't completely compromise my mind; if I bled during the fight, my blood would be hot enough that it was almost like caustic acid in how it could burn through material.

Essentially, the best way to beat my Stand would be to one-shot me with enough power that it overcomes my own at any point in time, or to finish me off as quickly as possible. Of course, this does jack squat against some of the most broken powers in the series. :P

So what does it look like. I'm guessing a humanoid figure.

As I said mine looks like a building.

I remember around the time the Part 3 anime was finishing up I took a shot at making my own stand, called DARE, based on the song by the Gorillaz.

It took the form of a pair of black sunglasses (based on the sunglasses on the giant head in the music video) and could be seen, touched and used by non-stand-users.

ABILITY
[spoilers]Its ability was along the lines of 'whoever wears the stand will receive "dares" to complete', should they wish to accept it. Three dares would appear on one of the lenses of the sunglasses (only visible to the user), along with a number from 1 to 100 displaying the difficulty (1= super easy, 100=extremely hard), and would remain for a certain amount of time.

If a dare was accepted, the user could complete it to receive a "buff" or reward (e.g. become stronger/faster, gain money - basically anything that would benefit them) based on how difficult the dare was. The buffs would last for as long as the user wore the stand or until they failed a dare, so they'd have to continually complete dares to keep their buffs (physical rewards like money will remain). Also, as the user completed more dares, the average difficulty and rewards would increase.

The stand is completely indestructible, similar to Super Fly.

Buffs can include abilities similar to some stand abilities like control over the weather, like Weather Report, or fire, like Magician's Red. This does not include some of the really OP stand powers - [spoilers]nothing related to time or space control.[/spoilers]

New dares appear 24 hours after the last dare was completed/failed, rounding to the nearest hour.

The stand would never give an impossible dare like "climb Mt. Fuji within 10 minutes!". It is always doable within the allotted time if there is a time limit.

The stand cannot do anything on its own, but it can go anywhere without losing any power since it has no original user, like Anubis.

NOTE: Any physical rewards are not just poofed into existence - a sequence of events will trigger which will lead to the user receiving their reward and cannot be stopped, similar to how Thoth could make 100% accurate predictions so long as you followed the plan.[/spoilers]

PROS & CONS
[spoilers]So obviously it'd be pretty inconvenient to have to drop whatever you're doing to complete a dare and if you're in a bad situation the last thing you want is to lose your buffs, but, again, the dares are never impossible for your current situation - you might even get some good ideas from them.

Having the potential for a buff to last indefinitely is pretty strong, and if you're powered up with a load of abilities you're going to be extremely difficult to deal with.

Another issue is the fact that, while you may be nigh invincible with a lot of buffs, if the stand isn't in contact with you, its effects disappear immediately, creating a major weakness.

Worse yet, your opponent could use the stand against you by stealing it, powering up and then using their own stand and their reward abilities.[/spoilers]

You put a lot of though into this. That's a really cool Stand, and I could actually something like this in the series. I should put some more though into a different Stand.

Ah, sorry. Was considering what it would look like, but then I got sidetracked.

Honestly, I thought about it being humanoid, but I'm considering making it non-humanoid like you did with yours. Essentially it's a manifestation of fighting spirit, so it would be something along those lines, like swirling fire that congregates around its User. I suppose I could make it a bit flashy to match the JoJo aesthetic, so maybe make it a mix of green, blue, and purple.

And now I'm thinking of Spiral Energy. XD

My Stand would be called Dragonforce. It'd look like a flaming horse man with dragon wings.

It's power would be giving me unparalleled speed and godlike strength, but all my fights would take thrice as long as they need to be.

Only dabbled in the Jojoverse (read 2 of the omnibus edition manga volumes, plus what's naturally picked up just looking at the fandom from the outside in), but what the hell.

NAME
As for the name, I've gone with Godsmack, even though the power is inspired the Alice in Chains song Again. Why? The band Godsmack was inspired by the AiC song called Godsmack, who wrote Again.

POWER
Like the song it's inspired by, the power is about being fooled, exploited, and wronged again, again, again, and again. Initially, the stand is neigh powerless to swat a fly, but if wronged by a particular person, group of people, or manmade phenomenon, it grows in it's power to fight it. The power grows with the number of offenses, growing from a slightly uncomfortable slap due to a couple wrongings to a complete and utter smiting after hundreds.

Qualifications for an offense include:
• An assault, theft, emotional assault, or other direct offense to the stand user.
• An objectively WRONG act that leads, however indirectly, to a great deal of stress on the stand user.
• Any indirect offense with an intention of harming the user (A-la Dio stealing the original Jojo's kiss).

What a beautiful thread! *chew*

Mine would be Whose World is This? (Nas) which would allow me to alter the minds and thoughts of others, along with their perception of others and reality, kinda like Heavens Door.

The appearance would be of a wrapped up and bandaged mummy like figure, with 6 arms and a red bandana. The eyes would be uncovered but obscured by darkness, only seeing yellow dots where its eyes would be. It would be wearing a red baseball hat and white tank top and blue jeans (thinking of an inner city current gangster).

I know it's not based on a song, but it was a term used for a while.

My Stand shall be called Flip Side, just as a placeholder till I find a more appropriate name.

It's special ability is to reverse the opponent's perspectives of left and right, as if they were looking in a mirror. Say I have Flip Side throw a punch with its left arm. The opponent will try to block or evade, but due to the effects of the ability they'll think it's coming from the right arm and end up running into it.

It's a short range melee type like Star Platinum and Crazy Diamond, although it's nowhere near as fast or powerful, with a range of about 4 feet.
