Inside: Horror Game with MC Elements from the Creators of Limbo
Hey there! I'm new! And since I'm new, I thought I might direct your attention to an MC game I haven't seen anyone talking about.

Inside is a game from Playdead Studios, the creators of the indie hit Limbo. If any of you are familiar with Limbo, Inside is it's spiritual sequel. It's got a lot of the same elements - 2-D puzzle-platformer with minimalist storytelling, a dark, moody atmosphere, a child protagonist and a million horrible ways to die.

The game takes place in a dystopia where a sinister organization (I think...it's not super clear right now) has used mind control to turn the populace into zombie-like thralls. You play as a little boy who's been targeted by the bad guys and is trying to stop their plans.

Also, I should mention that the bad guys (probably) aren't trying to control you. They just want to kill you. With guns, killer robots, and attack dogs. Used on a kid, no less. It's pretty brutal.

The MC comes in when you're allowed to take control of the thralls yourself. During certain sections, you can use a suspended helmet to control nearby thralls and use them to solve puzzles. There's also a pretty tense sequence where you wind up in an "assembly line" of thralls, and have to blend in to avoid suspicion.

Here's a video. The helmet gets shown at 4:05 and the "blend in" sequence is at 5:09.

It's coming out tomorrow for Xbox One and July 7th for Steam. Early reviews are so glowing they've gone radioactive.

Personally, I'm more interested in the game and story than the MC stuff - this is frankly too horrifying for me. But the game itself looks fantastic, and it's sort of on-topic. I thought someone else might be interested.

Holy crap, I missed the news on this one. Thanks for pointing it out. Limbo was pretty good, and it looks like the devs are bringing their A-game for this one. May need to get this, even if the $20 price tag makes me a bit sad for my wallet. The MC stuff definitely looks a lot more brutal than the standard fare on this site, but sometimes brutal makes a good story. Sometimes grimdark works.

But why would I want to stop the mind-controllers? :(

I remover seeing this game during E3 but somehow I missed the MC elements. I'll definitely need to do more research now!

Limbo was freaking great and I believe I'm correct in saying that their studio hasn't released anything new since, so hopefully that should mean they've been working on it for a long while!

Well, that brief excerpt I just saw was terrifying. Then again, given the developers, this is not surprising.

because they're the bad kind who do it without consent or for lewd purposes

I'm actually pretty eager to see this get released. Limbo was a lot of fun, and Playdead turning that concept into horror would be great. (I don't consider Limbo to be horror, just very bleak and dark)
