I thought that I heard somewhere that the choice for "adult commission" or whatever the option was was actually a trap to catch the people who are using paypal for that despite it being against ToS? Unless they've changed things since, or I just completely heard this wrong.

Wasnt this a trick? To catch people that create adult content to block them?

That's what I've heard. I don't have any confirmation, but I seem to recall hearing that if anybody uses this option, their account is frozen and all funds on it are seized. Be careful.

Check Pen's tumblr. Proof of this bullshit there.

Don't state or make it clear you are doing adult content on paypal, and paypal is literally doing entrapment

So... how does that even work? If you set yourself up to cash out via paypal they hit you? Or does it hit patrons who pledge to you with their paypal?

no no on patreon it's fine. but if you create a paypal and say you are selling adult content, THAT'S the trap.

Basically, Paypal needs to grow the fuck up and get out of its padded, air-filtered basement.

Funny since the Paypal top brass are hardcore libertarian/objectivists. I guess the fear of becoming a hive of adult services and getting sued is worth more to them.

The reason Paypal doesn't allow adult content creators is because payments of that nature are notoriously prone to chargebacks, cancellations, and other things that cost them money, time to sort out, and resources.

And they are correct, that does happen to an absolutely ridiculous degree. I'm married to a popular porn artist, this happens to him sometimes and he's not even that huge of a player in the industry, compared to sites or services.

They're cool with Patreon because Patreon handles all that if it comes up, and it's increasingly difficult to scam on Patreon, so Paypal doesn't have all that extra trouble with them. It's not a moral thing, it's just unfeasible from a business standpoint.
