Share some of your favorite lyrics. They can be lyrics that you find cool, ones you find inspirational, ones you find funny, whatever. This thread is mainly for lines, verses, or choruses, not entire songs, though you can name entire songs if you like. Include why you like the lyrics too! I'll start with some of mine.

Soon you'll come to know
When the bullet hits the bone
- Golden Earring, "Twilight Zone"

I've just always found this line incredibly cool. There's just something so badass about it and the way it's said in the song.

Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?
- Queensryche, "Revolution Calling"

One of those "ain't it the truth" lines. I just gotta love it because it's so on-point.

Arrogance and ignorance go hand in hand
- Metallica, "Holier Than Thou"

Basically the same as the above. It's a line I've found myself incorporating into my own repertoire.

And eternity, my friend, is a long fucking time
- Bad Religion, "You"

I just love this ling for a combination of it being both true and just funny to hear.

Let's play this game called "when you catch fire
I wouldn't piss to put you out"
- Fall Out Boy, "Tell That Mick He Just Made My List of Things to Do Today"

It's such a "fuck you", and hilarious, as is the entire song.

I got to laugh, 'cause I know I'm gonna die
- KISS, "Detroit Rock City"

Just another badass one. To be so cool in the face of death that you just laugh.

---

I'll probably post some more later, but this should be enough to get it going.

The car is on fire, and there's no driver at the wheel
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides
And a dark wind blows

Who are the ones that we kept in charge?
Killers, thieves, and lawyers!
God's Away, God's away.
God's away on Business. Business!

Arm yourself because no-one else here will save you
The odds will betray you
And I will replace you
You can't deny the prize it may never fulfill you
It longs to kill you
Are you willing to die?
Coldest blood runs through my veins
You Know My Name

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

There's many to choose from. Will probably add more later.

Picking any particular lyrics is hard, but I think I would go with (Going with the lyrics from <<www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGaM07Pc-nI|this translation>>:
Lives, you dear little lives,
You my children whom I have shared my emotions, body and life with,
Lives, you dear little lives,
I shall stain my body with your blood,
That is my every tear, my repentance

It feels like the bit out of XaaaCi. that most covers the whole 'this is a song about the planet wanting to kill everyone despite its love' thing.

Memetastic Lyrics I like?

SONO CHI NO SADAME

ACTUAL Lyrics I like?

A Hero of War, yeah that's what I'll be, and when I come home they'll be damn proud of me ... A Hero of War, is that what they see? Just medals and scars, so damn proud of me

This is the only one I know the source for. Why is no one but me listing the song and artist? :(

I take that back, I know the source for this too. Even though I rarely listened to this song because it made me uneasy.

Just thought of another one, and I'll be sure to mention where it's from this time!

One spark can incite their hope, and ignite the hearts of their weary souls, I will extinguish their flame

"Come with me to yoglabs babe-ay
We make coffee that'll blow your cares away.
Just one sip and you can't help but obey"

"When a man lies, he murders some part of the world.
These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives.
All this I cannot bear to witness any longer.
Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home?"

Only lyrics from "To Live Is To Die", Metallica's Tribute song to Cliff Burton, their old bassist before he died in a tour bus crash. :C

"Stay, you don't always know where you stand,
'till you know that you won't run away"
- Sulfur
A good quote thing to get pumped up to take a stand.

"Drained and Blue, I bleed for you.
You think it's funny? Well you're drowning in it too."
- No Excuses
Oh, the times I've had to help someone while they thought I was being ridiculous. Oh, the times I've considered derelicting responsibility and morals just so I could say "I told you so" when the shitstorm rolled through.

"Don't Act Dumb
Don't don't don't act dumb"
- Donacdum

More!

Rhyme without reason is why children cry
They see through the system that's breeding them just so they die
So please let me take you and I'll show you the truth
Inside my reality we shared in our youth
- Testament, "Return to Serenity"

The whole song is pretty haunting, but this is my favorite verse.

Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from a friend who
Heard if from another you been messin' around
- REO Speedwagon, "Take It on the Run"

Probably REO Speedwagon's most famous lyrics, partly because it just sounds so funny.

All this machinery making modern music
Can still be open-hearted
Not so coldly charted
It's really just a question
Of your honesty, yeah, your honesty
- Rush, "The Spirit of Radio"

Rush explains to us that the music and the feeling behind it is more important than the tools that create it.

I know someday you'll have a beautiful life
I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's sky
But why, why, why can't it be
Can't it be mine?
-Pearl Jam, "Black"

A very emotional verse for anyone who has loved and lost.

Tears fall, but why am I crying?
After all, I'm not afraid of dying
Don't I believe that there never is an end?
- Iron Maiden, "Hallowed Be Thy Name"

When faced with impending death, a prisoner questions his own beliefs. Makes you wonder how you would feel in the same position.

Inside my hands these petals browned
Dried up, fallen to the ground
But it was already too late now
I pushed my fingers through the earth
Returned this flower to the dirt
So it could live, I walked away now
- Rise Against, "The Good Left Undone"

Sometimes, the best way to prove you love something is to let it go.

Here's to you Nicola and Bart
Rest forever here in our heart
The last and final moment is yours
Your agony is your triumph
- Ennio Morricone
Here's to You

Rise up, gather round, rock this place to the ground.
Burn it up! Let's go for broke. Watch the night go up in smoke
- Def Leppard
Rock of Ages (Coincidentally these lyrics are a good backup plan for any situation)

That's all I got for now but there are others.

"Don't you know I broke the mooooooold like a hammer through a land mine?
You'd better stick to what you knooooooow, 'cause I ain't playin' just to rewind...
I'm comin' back
I'm comin' back
I'm comin' back, to outlast every outcast!
I'm comin' back
I'm comin' back
I'm comin back, to outlast every outcast!"
- Outcast by Shinedown

"When you think alllllll is forsaken
Listen to me now
(Hope's not forsaken)
You need never feel broken agaiiiin
Sometimes darkness can show you the light"
- The Light by Disturbed

"So pardon me while I burst into flames
I've had enough of the world and its people's mindless games
So pardon me while I burn and rise above the flame
Pardon me, pardon me, I'll never be the same"
- Pardon Me by Incubus

There's a bunch of other songs whose lyrics really resonate with me, mostly from hard rock and alternative rock, though that list does include some R&B from the 70s and 80s, classic rock, and a variety of other sources.

For its meme credibility only,
"Todokete Setsunasa ni wa namae wo tsukeyou ka 'Snow halation'" from uh... Snow Halation.

Oh also, the entire Pokemon original theme song.

And basically anything Bo Burnham has ever sung. Ever.
